I AM STORM

SLA, SLS, PLA, powder coated aluminium, patel gradient pet-G, woven monofilament nylon, stainless steel, POM, metal (tbc)

I Am Storm is an immersive artwork which represents the gusts of wind in a field of grass. Rooted in DRIFT’s fascination with the mesmerising rhythms of nature, this artwork draws on the essence of wind. The majority of plant species are dependent on this power: without wind there would be no waves, pollination or rain. Nothing on this planet would move.

As audiences walk through the moving modules, sensors are activated which prompt the choreography of the grass. These modules react to the viewer, endowing them with a sense of power, as they become the wind source activating the movement. How does it feel to be this force: the whispering wind or the storm? How much influence do you have on your environment? I Am Storm is a moving space which seeks to remind viewers that they are in constant dynamic dialogue with their environment. To connect them with the feeling of being surrounded by, and responding to, nature.

I Am Storm is developed in collaboration with the TextielMuseum – Tilburg, with the woven monofilament nylon fabric created in their textile lab.
