Unfold is an immersive installation that transforms the human body’s rhythmic data into a unique audio-visual experience. Visitors’ heartbeats are measured in real-time, serving as the foundation for shaping the surrounding experience.

Drawing inspiration from the local botanical world, the visuals manifest a dynamic, character-driven floral form. The body’s rhythm is translated through AI into unique floral patterns, each tailored to the visitor’s beats per minute (BPM). This connection between biological data and digital design creates a one-of-a-kind visual experience, where each interaction becomes a personal reflection of the individual in that precise moment.

The participant is guided through a personalized natural growth visualization and audio score into an altered state of mind creating a connection between their body and the world around them. Using digital content to realign us to our physical world, Unfold is an exploration of the self, where the pulse of life manifests through the ephemeral beauty of flora-an invitation to delve deeper into the symbiotic dance between the body and nature.

Conceived and produced specifically for the Goat Tower of SCAD Lacoste, Unfold embodies DRIFT’s core intention to craft immersive environments in which the audience is surrounded with natural rhythms created by the light and movement. 

These soothing rhythms encourage visitors to synchronize their breathing and heartbeat with the pulse of their surroundings, offering an opportunity to rediscover and, ideally, reconnect with both the environment and their inner selves
